5/2

hi all
so on 5/2 we had a business day. the first thing we did was go to ESVAL, the water treatment facility for the region that we were in.

this is the cliff that the treatment plant was on

this is the treatment plant at the bottom of the hill. we had to get in an ascensor, which they are crazy about here in Chile. its like an elevator but its on this weird track. a little scary.
this is a hole where they filter out the sewage water.

this is us down in the hole where they get the fresh water from to turn into drinking water. this plant both made drinking water and cleaned the sewage water. they are not the same thing.

this is us outside of the plant

this is a pipe where all the stuff that is in the sewage water settles to the bottom.

this is Claudio. he works at the plant and was our guide. he went on the same trip im on, but he went to Canada.

did i mention that maggie did this whole thing in heels. the communication about appropriate attire for each day has been a little lacking.

this is us at the German Club where we had lunch. Fried fish to be exact.

this is us at Jorge Vega's office. He was the team leader that came to Orange County from CHile. He is an export official. we got a very detailed presentation on the economy of Chile.
